The Journey of Rice
From Paddy to Perfection
Our State-of-the-Art Rice Processing
A Step-by-Step Process
1. Paddy Reception and Pre-Cleaning
Stage 1
Upon arrival at our facility, raw paddy undergoes an initial inspection and is then directed to the pre-cleaning section. This crucial first step involves removing coarse impurities such as straw, dust, stones, and other foreign materials that may have been collected during harvesting and transportation. Advanced vibratory cleaners and de-stoners are employed to ensure only clean paddy proceeds to the next stages, safeguarding the quality of the final product.
Stage 2
Depending on the desired rice variety, the paddy may undergo a parboiling or steaming process:
- Parboiling (for Sella Rice): This involves soaking the paddy in hot water, steaming it under pressure, and then drying it. This process gelatinizes the starch, making the grains harder, reducing breakage during milling, and retaining more nutrients. It also gives Sella rice its characteristic golden hue and firm texture upon cooking.
Steaming (for Steamed Rice): Paddy is subjected to steam and then dried. This process strengthens the grain, making it less prone to breakage during milling, while largely preserving its natural white color and delicate aroma. Steamed rice typically cooks up fluffy and separate.
2. Parboiling or Steaming (For Specific Varieties)
3. Husking (De-hulling)
Stage 3
After pre-cleaning or parboiling/steaming, the paddy moves to the husking stage. Here, specialized rubber roll huskers gently remove the outer protective layer (husk) from the paddy grain. This process yields brown rice, which retains its bran layer and germ, offering higher nutritional value.
Stage 4
Following husking, the mixture contains brown rice, un-husked paddy, and husks. A highly efficient paddy separator is used to separate the un-husked paddy from the brown rice. The un-husked paddy is then returned to the husking machines for reprocessing, ensuring maximum yield and efficiency.
4. Paddy Separation
5. Whitening and Polishing
Stage 5
The brown rice then proceeds to the whitening section, where abrasive and friction-type whiteners carefully remove the bran layer. This process transforms brown rice into white rice. For an even finer finish, the rice may then pass through mist polishers, which use a fine spray of water to create a smooth, lustrous, and silky appearance, enhancing its visual appeal.
Stage 6
To ensure uniformity and meet specific market requirements, the milled rice is then subjected to grading and sizing. Plan-shifters and length graders meticulously separate full grains from broken grains, ensuring that only rice of consistent size and quality is packaged. This step is crucial for maintaining product integrity and customer satisfaction.
6. Grading and Sizing
7. Color Sorting (Sortex)
Stage 7
In our commitment to delivering only the purest rice, we utilize advanced optical color sorters. These machines employ high-resolution cameras and sophisticated software to detect and remove any discolored grains, yellow grains, or other foreign particles that may have escaped previous stages. This ensures an exceptionally clean and visually appealing final product.
Stage 8
The perfectly processed rice is then accurately weighed and packaged using automated machines. We offer a variety of packaging options, ranging from small consumer packs (e.g., 1 kg, 5 kg) to larger bulk bags (e.g., 25 kg, 50 kg), to cater to diverse customer needs. Our packaging materials are designed to preserve the freshness, aroma, and quality of the rice during storage and transportation.
8. Weighing and Packaging
9. Quality Control and Assurance
Stage 9
Throughout the entire processing chain, rigorous quality control checks are implemented. Our facility adheres to international food safety standards such as ISO 22000 and HACCP, ensuring that every batch of rice is safe, wholesome, and meets the specified quality parameters. Regular laboratory testing is conducted to monitor moisture content, grain dimensions, purity, and other critical attributes.
By following this comprehensive and technologically advanced processing procedure, we guarantee that our rice products consistently deliver the premium quality and exceptional culinary experience our customers expect.
